OMAHA, Neb. —

As summer vacation comes to a close, students are heading back to class.

Westside Community Schools kicked things off Thursday with excitement and energy.

With backpacks full and hallways filled, students and staff are excited for their first day of the 2025-2026 school year at Sunset Hills Elementary.

"First day of school is super exciting, kids are smiling, they're excited to be here," said Kira Mclean, Sunset Hills principal.
