VALLEY, Neb. —
Nebraska Rep. Mike Flood applauded the Trump administration for their announcement to hire critical positions at the National Weather Service .
He said fully staffed offices are critical.
Flood added he is thankful for the support, but is also urging his colleagues to pass the bipartisan Weather Workforce Improvement Act.
It would ensure positions remain permanent.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will hire 450 meteorologists, hydrologists and radar techs.
This comes after nationwide cuts to weather services that left many offices that were already understaffed — reducing the amount of weather balloons they launched — including the offices in Nebraska.
