Replica grenade causes police response

A replica grenade was found in Grand Island Thursday night, according to Grand Island Police. Around 5 p.m., GIPD responded to a report of a loose grenade that was discovered near E. 1st St. and Plum St.

A Nebraska State Patrol bomb unit was called in, and the preliminary investigation determined that it was a replica of a live ordnance. The surrounding area was closed for over two hours.
