NEW ORLEANS —

At a Thursday meeting, the New Orleans City Council unanimously decided that second line requirements will stay the exact same as last year, until everyone can come together and agree on a solution moving forward.

The vote followed about 20 public speakers, who took the podium in front of council members and New Orleans Police Department officials, including the superintendent. Advertisement

It comes amid talks of changing or stepping up second-line enforcement, including a proposed new $5 million insurance policy requirement.

But City Council directed the NOPD not to enforce new regulations and cleared the way for a task force to work out a compromise.
