PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - Thursday was Purple Heart Day, which honors our brave men and women in the military who were wounded or killed by enemy action.
In commemoration of this day, Center for American Values, an educational non-profit in Pueblo, is making sure everyone understand why it’s important to recognize Purple Heart recipients.
“Our mission is to honor extreme sacrifices made to help sustain American values and to ensure these extraordinary actions are preserved forever and we also focus on teaching honor, integrity and patriotism,” Gallery Assistant at Center for American Values Emma Hanagan tells 11 News.
As for how important teaching about Purple Heart recipients is to this mission, Hanagan says, “I think it’s very important to honor them so we remember their sacrifices.”
