NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) -- The Flying Dragon's Pole Vault Club in Normal was robbed while at a junior Olympic competition in Texas.
At around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, two people stole over $50,000 worth of items. Vaulting poles, personal belongings, and a 2021 Chevy Silverado were all stolen in around three minutes.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Chevy Silverados are the most stolen vehicles in the state.
"There were 46 poles. We had four separate bags, and I valued the poles between eight (hundred) and $1,000 apiece. So, there's around $46,000 just in poles alone. And then we had personal items, clothing, backpacks, all that kind of stuff in the truck," said Mike Cockerham, owner of the Flying Dragons Pole Vault Club.
