IRMO, S.C. — A group of Irmo baseball players is heading to the Little League World Series after a dramatic walk-off win in the Southeast Region Tournament.
Irmo Little League punched its ticket to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, becoming just the fourth team from South Carolina to ever make it this far.
After their big win Wednesday night, the players hopped back on the bus to begin their journey north, missing the first day of school in the process.
“So, it’s feeling better to be playing baseball right now than having to go to school,” player Andrew Bogan said.
Irmo Little League will represent the Southeast region of the United States. The team will face champions from other regions, and possibly from other countries, if they make it to the final game.
