DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A heavy fire at a Durham home was put out in under 10 minutes by several Durham Fire Department crews on Thursday.
It was approximately 6 p.m. when a call came in reporting the fire in the 1000 block of Da Vinci Street, according to Division Chief Shawn Field. Upon the first unit's arrival to the home in northeast Durham, "heavy fire" from the" was seen coming out of the front of the house.
Crews—consisting of 41 total firefighters—deployed a hoseline and entered the home for a fire attack, Field said. The person living at the home was not there when crews arrived, the department said. No civilians or firefighters were injured in the fire or response to put it out.
