BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Penquis and Heart of Maine United way hosted their annual Fill the Bus event in the Walmart parking lot Thursday to collect school supplies for children.

With back to school right around the corner, the donations will benefit the We’ve Got Your Back campaign.

Led by a partnership between Penquis and Blueberry Broadcasting, the campaign provides backpacks and essential school supplies to over a thousand school age children.

The Penquis Community Relations Manager, Renae Muscatell, says that with nearly 200 children on the waiting list, donations are needed more than ever.
