SEDALIA, Mo. (KFVS) - Missouri’s biggest fair is underway, but today is kicking off more than just the annual state fair.
Gov. Mike Kehoe declared today the official kick-off of Show Me 250, Missouri’s year-long celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. From now until August 17, you can go to the state fair to experience drone shows, selfie stops and more for Show Me 250.
This is just the beginning of Missouri’s celebrations, Kehoe said many more events all across the state are planned for the next year to celebrate the country’s birthday.
“Think of this country being 250 years old,” Kehoe said. “It’s almost unbelievable that we’ve had democracy that long right here in the continental U.S.”
