CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) -- St. Joseph-Stanton Fire Protection District crews responded to a car on fire on Interstate 74 Thursday evening.

The fire protection district said it happened around 6:45 p.m.

When the crews arrived, all of the occupants were out of the vehicle and a safe distance away. The fire protection district added that the vehicle was "well involved" by flames when they arrived.

Crews used a handline and worked to get access under the hood of the car, which is where the interior hot spots were. The firefighters also used foam because the flames had burnt through the fuel line. This allowed the fire to keep igniting.
