EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. (KCTV) - A Smithville man has been charged in Clay County under a law prosecutors say has become common to file.

The Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Police Department says 32-year-old Jeremy Cummings has been arrested and charged under Valentine’s Law . The arrest comes a day after he allegedly led officers on a chase.

Law enforcement officials noted that on Tuesday, they spotted Cummings in a black Tahoe that had been connected to several thefts from vehicles in Liberty over the weekend. Several firearms were stolen as a result.
