TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Whether it’s county, state, or federal, trails in Pima County do not close, unlike in the Phoenix area.
The trails here are open regardless of how hot the day gets, which is why it’s important to pay attention to safety tips.
A spokesperson with the Coronado National Forest said it never shut down its trails; however, the Sabino Canyon Crawler was closed Thursday and Friday due to the extreme heat.
Catalina State Park Manager Steven Haas said they also don’t close their trails on the hotter days, and that’s mainly due to the fact that Catalina State Park is adjacent to the Coronado National Forest; therefore, they can’t just close the forest.
