BRANDON, S.D. (KELO) -- Dell Rapids PBR, Canova Gang and the Garretson Blue Jays each claimed opening-round victories at the Class 'B' amateur state tournament Thursday.

PBR rolled to an 11-1 win over the Plankinton F&M Bankers. The reigning state champions rallied for five runs in the top of the first.

The Gang knocked off the Elk Point Colt .45's 10-7 in an 11-inning thriller. With the game knotted at 7, Canova pushed three runs across in the top of the 11th.

Garretson shutout the Volga Cormorants 10-0. Nick Bonte struck out eight and allowed just two hits.

The state tournament continues on Friday in Brandon.
