A local judge on Monday released a suspect in a child pornography case without bond, after he was arrested earlier in the day.

Electronic court records stated that Chaves County Magistrate Judge James Mason ordered that Jesus Noe Barrera-Miranda, 38, of Roswell, be released on his own recognizance while awaiting trial on one felony count each of criminal sexual communication with a child and causing or permitting a child to engage in sexual exploitation of a child under 13.

Barrera-Miranda was arrested and subsequently released after a warrant was issued on July 29. The criminal complaint filed against Barrera-Miranda stated that in May 2024, a former girlfriend of his went to the Roswell Police Department with a video of him that included child pornography.
