Iain Dowie has backed Rob Edwards to be a hit at Middlesbrough , describing it as a ‘match made in heaven’. But, like most, he thinks the new head coach will need more new signings to help him out.
Edwards was appointed as Boro ’s new head coach last month, replacing Michael Carrick who was sacked after two and a half years at the helm. That followed a disappointing tenth-placed finish in last season’s Championship.
However, since then, Boro haven’t yet been able to land all of their primary targets and head into the new season, which kicks off on Saturday at home to Swansea City, with just the three new additions. There are clear gaps in the squad too.
