MOUNT PLEASANT — A Shem Creek restaurant known for its lively waterfront atmosphere is pushing back against a lawsuit that alleges it's one of more than two dozen area restaurants to falsely advertise imported shrimp as local or wild-caught.

The response marks the next twist in the ongoing " shrimp gate " saga, which has put Charleston restaurants on high alert since June, with many taking to social media to defend their sourcing practices. Meanwhile, six restaurants have reached agreements with the nonprofit advocacy group behind the lawsuit.
