MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man was convicted of multiple child sex crimes while in court on Thursday, according to the Shelby County District Attorney's Office.

Eric Goolsby, 38, was found guilty of two counts of child sexual abuse, one count of aggravated sexual battery, and one count of tampering with evidence.

Prosecutors say the victim was abused between the ages of four and eight, but disclosed the abuse at the age of 15. They say key anatomical details were provided.

Goolsby was accused of trying to mislead authorities about his physical condition. Prosecutors say his attempt was uncovered by investigators and medical professionals.

That is when he was reindicted after a follow-up exam confirmed that he had tampered with evidence.
