Imagine the “Scooby-Doo” gang grows up and runs into adult issues like swearing, drugs, sex, drinking, fisticuffs and a grisly murder or two.

That’s the premise of the zany comedy “Paige Darcy: Reluctant Detective,” now showing on the Toronto-based Highball.TV streaming service and services like Amazon Prime in the U.S.

It’s like “Scooby-Doo” meets “Reacher” and “Monk.”

The film was shot in Hamilton in July and August 2022 and had its Canadian premiere July 28 at the Westdale Theatre. About 70 people attended, including cast and crew, as well as directors and married couple Melissa D’Agostino and Matthew Campagna. D’Agostino is a co-founder of Highball.TV and Campagna is production director.
