GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Members of an Upstate animal rescue organization were arrested Wednesday in connection with the theft of a dog last month.

Elizabeth Waldrop and Ashley Raymond are charged with trespassing, conspiracy, malicious injury to animals, and stealing/killing an identifiable dog.

Raymond is the founder of Anakin’s Trails pet recovery nonprofit and the organization said Waldrop is a team member.

According to social media posts by Anakin’s Trails, the pair were trying to save a dog named Max. The dog was tied up outside and suffering from heart failure, the rescue said.

Arrest warrants state the dog was euthanized on July 16 without the owner’s knowledge after being taken by Waldrop and Raymond.
