LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police have released an updated regarding a 4-year-old with a gunshot wound.

After speaking with witnesses, LMPD officers believe the shooting was the result of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound to the child’s arm.
The child is expected to make a full recovery.
“Incidents like this are a vivid reminder of how important it is to secure your firearms and take proper precautions when small children are around. We are very grateful that this shooting did not turn tragic. Our investigation is still very active and ongoing,” reads a statement from the department.
