Traffic stop on US 92 leads to drug possession charge and a surprising confession.
POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A traffic stop on Thursday night near the Circle K on US 92, west of Auburndale, took an unexpected turn when the driver, 39-year-old Patrick Collins, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
However, it was Collins’ explanation for the drugs that raised eyebrows.
According to a report from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, deputies pulled over Collins’ gray 2009 Hyundai Sonata. During the stop, officers discovered a quantity of methamphetamine.
When confronted with the illegal substance, Collins allegedly denied ownership, instead claiming the drugs belonged to his elderly grandmother.
