ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - More metro Atlanta school districts are considering installing vape sensors at their high schools.

The DeKalb County School District, which is Georgia’s third-largest, will discuss purchasing vape detectors at its school board meeting next week.

If approved by the school board, over 400 HALO Smart Sensors would be installed at all 26 high schools.

The detectors will likely be in the restrooms and locker rooms where students often vape.

Kelley Herrin with the organization Parents Against Vaping said her daughter had a vaping addiction when she was in high school.

“She would vape in the bathrooms at school and at home, but we didn’t know because it’s easy to hide,” Herrin said.
