The city of Battle Creek has issued a boil water advisory for residents on Northside Drive West, between Washington Avenue North and Howland Street.

"The City of Battle Creek has shut down a portion of the water system for improvements or repairs. When work on our water system requires us to reduce the water pressure below a certain level, there is potential for bacteria to enter the system," the city said in the advisory. "Bacteria generally are not harmful and are common throughout our environment. As a safeguard to your health, the City of Battle Creek is advising you to boil water before consuming it."

Residents should boil tap water before consuming it.
