A Waterloo man is facing more than 200 criminal charges in connection with numerous motor vehicle thefts in Kitchener and Waterloo.

According to a news release, Waterloo Regional Police’s North Division Direct Action Response Team began an “in-depth” investigation in May into a “into a prolific offender identified through the Service’s Stratified Policing Model, which included an analysis of theft from motor vehicle incidents reported to WRPS since January 2025.”

It was through this process, with more than 120 police occurrence reports reviewed, that police say they were able to link more than 50 incidents to one person.
