RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Goodbye, Applebee's. Hello, Whataburger!

Demolition crews were spotted on the corner of East Six Forks Road and Wake Forest Road, where an Applebee's has sat abandoned, to finally tear it down.

In its place will be a new Whataburger, according to records obtained by CBS 17 in October 2024. Records also showed the early stages of a second location on Falls of Neuse Road, though the demolition on Six Forks Road is a clear step that the Texas-based burger chain is coming to the Triangle.

The SkyEye17 drone was on the scene when crews were tearing down the old building using multiple excavators.

Whataburger recently opened locations in North Carolina, including Greensboro and Charlotte.
