Students from across our city have been working hard on several projects they will be unveiling to the city soon, ahead of the 20-year mark of Katrina's landfall.

WDSU reporter Shay O'Connor went to the mural in the Lower 9th Ward, aiming to show kids there is a brighter future in New Orleans. Advertisement

"The wall addresses several points of time: Pre-Katrina, during Katrina and post-Katrina," said Nimai Guhasarkar, of Eternal Seeds.

A labor of love was placed where the levees broke in the Lower 9th Ward.

"I think it represents the stories of a lot of New Orleanians... Especially people from the 9th Ward," Guhasarkar said.

"It's been very emotional, very cautious in a way because it represents thousands of lives you are engaging with," Andre Pellebon said.
