KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Former Knox County Trustee employee Jason Dobbins has been indicted on two felony counts of official misconduct.
A grand jury meeting behind closed doors returned the indictment Wednesday after Blount County District Attorney General Ryan Desmond presented evidence for their review.
Such presentments remain secret by law until a defendant turns himself in.
Accompanied by his attorney Stephen Ross Johnson, Dobbins, 48, turned himself in Friday afternoon at the City County Building to be booked on the felony charge. He was then processed and released with bond set at $5,000.
Johnson said in a statement:
"Jason Dobbins is a loving husband and father, small business owner, and Knoxville native. He has long been involved in, and contributed positively to, our community.
