— The Lumberton Tobacco Market set records in the month of August, with 2,727,392 pounds sold for a sum of $534,888.39 from its opening on Aug. 4 through Aug. 31, averaging $19.61 per hundred pounds, The Robesonian reported. The week ending Aug. 21 was also record-setting week, with 785,624 pounds sold — nearly 100,000 more than the previous weekly record — for a sum of $142,276.26.
