THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) --- The Bronx family of 2-year-old Montrell Williams, who died when his father allegedly threw him into the East River last month, filed a $60.5 million wrongful death claim against the NYPD for improperly handling the boy's disappearance, lawyers said Friday.
The boy's mother, Cierra Carroll, and maternal grandmother, Octavia Roane, allege the NYPD was negligent when it did not urgently respond to repeated warnings about the missing boy after he was last seen with his father, Arius Williams, according to the claim filed with the city's Comptroller's Office on Thursday.
"I want the NYPD to know what they did," Carroll said in a statement.
