APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - Friday night lights are just two weeks away. Local football teams are preparing for their seasons, but with extreme heat and humidity, extra caution has been taken to ensure player safety.
The Appleton North high school football team called practice a little early this morning, to ensure that the athletes had an opportunity to cool down with the heat advisory.
With the WIAA changing rules on start dates of sports, football programs throughout the state have had to make their own decisions regarding how and when their seasons truly begin.
Cassy Timmers, ThedaCare licensed athletic trainer said with the changes, brought different challenges.
