LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A man was sentenced to nearly a year in jail after fatally hitting a pedestrian in Lincoln and leaving the scene last year.
According to court documents, 41-year-old Michael Hockman of Waverly pled guilty to attempt of a Class 3A felony and false reporting.
Hockman was originally charged with failure to stop and render aid after a serious crash.
Hockman was sentenced by a district court judge to 360 days in jail, with 12 months post-release supervision. His sentence is expected to begin on Aug. 15, after he surrenders himself to the jail.
On Feb. 9, 2024, Lincoln Police investigated a crash that killed a pedestrian . During the investigation, investigators found there were two vehicles that hit the man.
