LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Students at Lincoln Pius X High School are set to begin classes on Aug. 19. However, this year will be different compared to other years because of an ongoing construction project.
A multi-million dollar project started over the summer revolves around building a new performing arts center and upgrade the school’s athletic facilities as well as expand the chapel.
The high school is looking to raise enough money to cover the project’s cost of $29 million. While the existing performing arts center at the school turns into a classroom, it leaves the performing arts department without a venue to perform on. Longtime teacher Mary Odgaard is seeing this as more of an opportunity to perform on different stages.
