PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A man was charged after allegedly shooting his brother Thursday night in Peoria.
Ashwin J. Greenleaf, 23, was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, said Anna Perales, a spokesperson for the Peoria County State's Attorney's Office.
She also said at Greenleaf's detention hearing, the court granted the State's Petition to Detain, meaning he will have to stay in custody before his trial.
The Peoria Police Department responded to a shooting incident near West Moss Avenue and North Douglas Street at approximately 4:07 p.m. on Aug. 7, Peoria police spokeswoman Semone Roth said.
When officers arrived, they located a man with an apparent gunshot wound to the leg. The man was taken to a local hospital with a serious injury.
