PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Preparations are well underway for the 2025 St. Jude Shrimp & Corn Boil, now in its 18th year, with volunteers shucking 1,800 ears of corn Friday at the Grand Prairie Hy-Vee.
The annual event will be held on Sunday, Aug. 10, from noon to 5 p.m.
Each $15 dinner includes jumbo shrimp, sweet corn, smoked sausage and potatoes. All proceeds benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This year’s fundraising goal is $15,000, an increase from last year’s $13,500 total.
“We’re so blessed to have the community we have,” said Mike Joseph, volunteer and member of the St. Jude Leadership Board. “People donate because they see where the money’s going, saving children’s lives and funding research that helps kids all over the world.”
