FAYETTE — Rising high school senior Ella Doolin has been given blood six times in the last two years. So when American Red Cross asked her to be part of a leadership team to sponsor her own blood drive, she said she was excited excited to sponsor it.
Doolin worked with the Red Cross to host a blood drive from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at Fayette High School.
The goal of the blood drive was 25 units, but the Red Cross said its team left the drive with 44 total units of blood. There were 39 appointments when the blood drive started, and 41 people showed up to donate.
Doolin said her passion for service started when she was 12 years old and had to get a spinal fusion — a surgery that lasted 11 hours.
