MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A neighborhood is demanding action Friday, saying there are growing concerns about a Midtown gas station.
WREG has reported on violent crimes on the corner of North Cleveland Street and Poplar Avenue several times before, as far back as 2015.
Residents claim the issues stem from the BP gas station.
"First and foremost is the rampant drug use. It's open air, you can walk onto some of these properties and walk up and see people openly doing drugs," said Community Investor Thomas Hewgley.
Thomas Hewgley owns rental properties in the area and said “drugs” are just the “tip of the iceberg” at that intersection.
We looked into it and discovered Memphis police have responded to more than 450 calls in the area, and about “half” of those are problems at the gas station — prim
