Rob Edwards made some big calls as he named his first Middlesbrough team for the opening-day clash with Swansea City.

Chief among them was the decision to start Hayden Hackney, but leave Rav van den Berg on the bench - amid transfer speculation surrounding both. Boro had previously accepted an offer from Ipswich Town for Hackney, though the midfielder chose, for now at least, to stay at Boro, and as such, Edwards felt confident to put him back into the side.

For Van den Berg , however, his future is less certain as a number of clubs remain interested, with FC Koln particularly keen.
