NEW ORLEANS — Thousands of runners dressed head to toe in red are expected to pack the French Quarter on Saturday for the .

The charity event, known as much for men and women dressing in elegant women’s red dresses, gowns, and day drinking as it is for its “athleticism”. The two-mile run begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at the entrance of Armstrong Park. Participants will follow a two-mile route through the French Quarter with non-scheduled stops at local bars for adult drinks.

Last year’s run raised $150,000 for area nonprofits. Organizers say proceeds from this year’s event will again benefit local charitable organizations.
