LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities have identified a motorcyclist who died following an early morning crash in Lexington County.
Corporal Nick Pye with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 1 a.m. on South Lake Drive near Daralynn Drive. Pye said a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle was heading east on South Lake Drive when it ran off the road to the right and hit a culvert.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher later identified the victim as 33-year-old Aaron Blake Smoak of Pelion, adding that he was pronounced dead at the scene. She said he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Pye said the crash is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
