You may be paying more to send packages through the Postal Service this holiday season.

That is according to a notice filed with the Postal Regulatory Commission on Friday.

The Postal Service said it plans to temporarily increase the price for some services to help cover extra handling costs.

The higher costs will affect Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail and USPS Ground Advantage items. No other products, including stamps, would be affected.

If approved by the commission, the temporary rates would go into effect Oct. 5 and remain in place until mid January.
