Indianapolis Colts running back Salvon Ahmed has received the worst possible news ahead of the 2025 NFL season, as he is expected to miss all of it after suffering an injury in practice.
Ahmed was the victim of a hip-drop tackle from teammate Trey Washington last week, which resulted in hospitalization.
He has since been ruled out for the entire 2025 season with an ankle injury, and his career is now thought to be at risk.
“Never want to see that happen,” Colts head coach Shane Steichen said, per ESPN’s Stephen Holder. “I know we don’t encourage hip-drop tackles.
He added:
“I know Trey’s down in the dumps, and I don’t think he’s trying to do that. We’re just trying to create an edge. … Those [backups] are going to have to tackle come preseason.”
