SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Notre Dame football topped off its 2026 recruiting class today with a commitment from one of the best high school defensive tackles in the nation.

Elijah Golden of Cardinal Mooney High School in Sarasota, Fla. announced his commitment to Notre Dame this afternoon.

Golden had reduced his long list of scholarship offers to a final four of Notre Dame, Alabama, Oklahoma and Virginia Tech.

Golden is listed at six feet four and 275 pounds. He still has to play his senior season of high school football so he will likely put on more weight and more muscle before he plays at Notre Dame.

He tops off a recruiting class that is one of the best in college football, ranked in the top five of most recruiting ranking services.
