TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - One of the biggest talking points surrounding the controversial Project Blue data center was the 3,000 construction jobs it was set to create in the City of Tucson.
Now, with the project in the rearview, many unions are still looking for ways to create more construction jobs in Tucson, which is something they say has been hard to come by in the past.
“The biggest thing is having these jobs here in Tucson. They don’t happen often,” Business Manager for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 570 Union Josh DeSpain said.
DeSpain says the struggle to find jobs in Tucson comes from a lack of projects or large infrastructure projects outside of the University of Arizona.
“You have the U of A infrastructure bills and Raytheon infrastructure bills.
