People of all ages gathered for Chicago's 96th annual Bud Billiken Parade, a massive back-to-school celebration that marked an end to summer.

The parade stepped off Saturday morning from 39th Street and Martin Luther King Drive in the Bronzeville neighborhood before ending in Washington Park.

Tens of thousands of people lined the streets to watch the floats, marching bands and dance teams put on a show.

“It’s a Chicago tradition, absolutely. You can’t miss it whether you’re a west sider, a south sider, or a north sider,” said Shay Porter from Chicago. “You have to be here. It’s history—so I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

“I’m actually out here to support my daughter, she’s marching in the Kenwood band,” said Fosta Wilson from Chicago.
