WALBURG, Texas (KWTX) - The Purple Heart Riders Association held its third annual Purple Heart Ride to honor wounded and fallen veterans.

A group of Central Texas motorcycle clubs rode from Temple, Texas to Walburg, Texas. The ride ended at the Walburg German Restaurant.

One of the rides organizers, Hot Rod, said more people attend every year.

“Riding for unaccompanied soldiers and those who can’t ride,” Hot Rod said. “Using it for a little bit of wind therapy. that’s what I want to leave behind.”

Steve Adams, who received the Purple Heart award in 2003, said the ride is important because it supports veterans who are unable to ride due to their injuries in the service.

“It’s really important that they know they’re remembered and that they’re never forgotten.”
