HOPKINS, Minn. — The Hopkins Police Department cited a "large crowd and fighting" at Hopkins High School while asking the public gathered at the school to disperse.

A group of people started fighting in the crowd of a 3 v3 basketball tournament hosted by Strictly BBall, according to a spokesperson for the school district.

The tournament operator had rented the facility, said the spokesperson.

According to the statement, "A small group of individuals began fighting in the crowd, and Mace was used. One person requested medical attention due to Mace."

The request was made in a public safety alert on Saturday evening.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
