HONOLULU (Island News) -- The Honolulu Fire Department fully extinguished a warehouse fire in Mapunapuna on Friday afternoon following an all-day effort.
Firefighters were dispatched at 9:45 a.m. for the fire that broke out at a building on Kilihau Street in Mapunapuna. Once at the scene, they found a fire at a large, two-story warehouse.
Firefighters called in a second, then a third alarm — meaning more units and crews were sent to help.
When firefighters entered the warehouse after an initial knockdown, contents throughout the building blocked access to the fire. After overcoming this challenge, the fire was brought under control at 12:48 p.m.
The fire was fully extinguished hours later at 4:46 p.m. All fire personnel were accounted for and no injuries were reported.
