A 44-year-old man was pushed onto the subway tracks at a Midtown Manhattan station on Saturday night, but he was not hit by a train, according to police. The incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. at the 50th Street and 7th Avenue station on the 1 train line.
The victim was standing on the platform when an unidentified individual pushed him from behind, causing him to fall onto the tracks. Fortunately, he managed to climb back onto the platform without coming into contact with any trains.
Emergency Medical Services transported the man to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated for injuries to his face and legs. He is currently in stable condition. Photos from the scene showed the victim with visible injuries, including blood on his knee and an abrasion on his forehead. Despite the circumstances, he was seen smiling as he was taken away on a stretcher.
The suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident, and no arrests have been made. The New York City Police Department is actively investigating the case and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
This incident follows another violent occurrence in the area, where three people were shot in Times Square earlier that same day. A 17-year-old suspect was detained in connection with that shooting, which injured an 18-year-old woman and two men aged 19 and 65.
