PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Several days have passed since an officer-involved shooting in Peoria left a police officer hit by a bat, and one man dead.

What stands out since the shooting on Tuesday, Aug. 6, has been the silence from law enforcement and from city leaders, including the mayor.

25News reached out to Illinois State Police, Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria, and the Advisory Committee on Police-Community Relations . Limited, digital responses were all that came back.

A family member contacted 25News, but even that did not lead to an interview.

It was previously reported that Brandon Lewis, 41, was allegedly swinging a bat at officers, hitting one of the cops, near Northeast Glen Oak Avenue and North Prospect Road in Peoria’s East Bluff.
